aliceBen Mink, the composer who recently had his score for Fifty Dead Men Walking released here, has been hired to write the original music for Alice, Nick Willing’s version of the classic Lewis Carroll tale Alice in Wonderland, developed and produced for RHI Entertainment and SyFy. Nick Willing is the filmmaker behind 2007’s Emmy Award-winning series Tin Man and the theatrical features The River King and Photographing Fairies. Willing’s has previously worked extensively with composer Simon Boswell. Kathy Bates and Tim Curry headline the cast of Alice, with Caterina Scorsone doing the title character. Alice will air on SyFy in December.

Ben Mink confirms the project to MovieScore Magazine and says that he will be starting scoring in October. “I believe the score will be influenced by early 60’s jazz and pop with an injection of espionage mystery and esoterica,” the composer adds. Mink, who is repped by Evolution Music Partners, has written a number of film and television scores but is best known is the song-writing partner of k.d. lang.
