The previously mentioned score for Gladiator is one of my favourites. It's a shame Hans won't be working on Robin Hood, I'm sure the medieval setting would have proved some great music. Streitenfeld never impressed me so far. I was a bit suprised that he was voted Discovery of the year anyway. Perhaps Marc's score for this movie will be rejected in the end? Scott is known for being rather unfriendly towards his composers (Ask Harry Gregson-Williams - who would do a fine job on this one as well on a side note. Loved his score for Kingdom of Heaven). As far as"Gladiator" is concerned, the soundtrack was so in keeping with the general atmosphere of the film, it's a treat and generates goose bumps whenever you listen to it ! Zimmer's art is perfect, a pity he won't be in charge of "Robin Hood" soundtrack ! It was the choice of songs specific to the time and place of American Gangster and A Good Year that was memorable, not his original score. Zimmer did such a fantastic job on Gladiator. Streitenfeld did a competent job mounting tension and suspense in "Body of Lies", but his score for "American Gangster" was generic, unmemorable and flat. Why doesn't Scott work with Zimmer anymore? A hallmark of a great Ridley Scott movie is his use of music...Streitenfeld better hit it out of the park this time around!
