wandmacherDimension Films’ remake of the 1978 horror flick Piranha gets an original score by Michael Wandmacher, the studio recently confirmed to MovieScore Magazine. Wandmacher recently wrote the music for My Bloody Valentine 3D. Just like that film, Piranha is a 3D film, directed by Alexandre Aja, the 31-year old French helmer who got his break with another horror remake, The Hills Have Eyes, in 2006. Piranha 3D is Aja’s and Wandmacher’s first collaboration. The film stars Elisabeth Shue, Eli Roth and Christopher Lloyd and is scheduled to premiere on April 16 next year. The original 1978 version of the film was directed by Joe Dante and featured a score by Italian composer Pino Donaggio.

Michael Wandmacher also recently finished work on an action-heavy score for Cartoon Network’s tv movie Ben 10: Alien Swarm, which will premiere on November 21.
