Four nominated for the European Film Award
Four composers and scores have been nomimated for the 2009 European Film Award, which will be handed out at a gala event in Bochum on December 12. The four nominations for the ‘European Composer 2009′ went to Alexandre Desplat for Coco Before Chanel, Jacob Groth for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Alberto Iglesias for Broken Embraces and Johan Söderqvist for Let the Right One In (which is also nominated for the most prestigious award, ‘European Film’ of the year).
French composer Desplat won the EFA for The Queen two years ago and was nominated for Girl With the Pearl Earring in 2004, Spain’s Iglesias won for Volver in 2006 and was nominated for Bad Education in 2004 and Sweden’s Söderqvist was nominated for Brothers in 2005. For Danish composer Jacob Groth, this year’s honour is his first European Film Award nomination.
The European Film Award is the annual culmination of the activities of the European Film Academy, an organization with more than 2,000 members of the European film industry. The EFA’s goal is to “to build a bridge between creativity and the industry”.
