The upcoming 20th Century Fox comedy Diary of a Wimp Kid, directed by Thor Freudenthal and starring Steve Zahn, Chloe Moretz and Rachel Harris, will get a score by Theodore Shapiro. It’s his first score for Freudenthal, whose previous feature, Hotel for Dogs, was scored by John Debney. The film is based on the Jeff Kinney illustrated novel about a wise-cracking junior high school student, to be portrayed by 11-year old Zachary Gordon. The prolific and versatile Theodore Shapiro’s recent credits include Jennifer’s Body, Year One, I Love You, Man and Tropic Thunder. Among his other upcoming films are Did You Hear About the Morgans?, also a comedy, starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant.

Diary of a Wimp Kid will premiere on April 2 next year. Color Force is producing for release via 20th Century Fox and Fox 2000.
