Composer Tyler Bates has confirmed to MovieScore Magazine that he is doing the original score for Super, the upcoming action comedy written and directed by James Gunn. Bates scored his previous film, Slither, as well as the acclaimed 2004 version of Dawn of the Dead which was written by Gunn. Super stars Liv Tyler, Ellen Page and Kevin Bacon in a story about an everyday guy (Rainn Wilson) who transforms himself into Crimson Bolt, a superhero who lacks heroic skills (yes, the story seems to have some similarities to Kick-Ass). Film is produced by That Is That Productions and Ambush Entertainment. Tyler Bates’ other recent assignments include video game Army of Two: The 40th Day and Rob Zombie’s animated The Haunted World of El Superbeasto.

Unlike most of the soundtracks fan, I think he’s a great composer.
