Alan Silvestri slated to score ‘The A-Team’
Veteran composer Alan Silvestri has just announced a new major film scoring assignment on his newly opened official web site. According to the site, Silvestri “has been slated” to compose the original score for The A-Team, the feature film version of the 1980s television series. The updated story is about a group of Iraq War veterans who are wrongfully accused of having commited a crime for which they were framed. Joe Carnahan (Narc, Smokin’ Aces) directs the film, which stars Bradley Cooper, Liam Neeson, Jessica Biel and Patrick Wilson.
Silvestri has written some of the most acclaimed action adventure scores since the mid 1980s, including the Back to the Future trilogy, the two first Predator movies, The Abyss, Judge Dredd and Eraser. Also revealed on Silvestri’s new web site is La-La Lands complete “archival” edition of the Eraser score, due out on CD in March next year.
The original A-Team tv series featured a well-known theme by Mike Post and Pete Carpenter. Whether or not Silvestri will incorporate that familiar tune (check out the YouTube clip below) remains to be seen.

Alan Silvestri scoring “The A-Team”? Man, I love it when a plan comes together!
Awesome. This just gave me my first reason to check out The A-Team.
Awesome! Been an A-TEAM fan since 1983. Glad to finally see it coming to the big screen (with the characters and the van looking just like their 80s counterparts), and especially glad to see one of my favorite composers will be doing the score. I really hope Silvestri incorporates the theme without making too many changes it.
