Four Grammy nominations to Giacchino
The music of Michael Giacchino was awarded four Grammy nominations when The Recording Academy revealed their list of nominees for the 52nd Grammy Awards last night. His score for Up was nominated for three of the awards, a somewhat interesting fact as Walt Disney Records never released this album on CD, limiting distribution to digital downloads. The fourth Giacchino nomination was given Varèse Sarabande’s release of his Star Trek score.

Terence Blanchard was nominated in the “Best Improvised Jazz Solo” category for his performance on “Dancin 4 Chicken” from Jeff “Tain” Watts album “Watts”. Tan Dun was nominated in the “Best Opera Recording” category for Marco Polo.
Personally I feel Michael Giacchino’s Star Trek is the best of the motion picture nominations. I own them all but it is Star Trek that I repeatedly listen to.
So, looking at the above, is there no category for best score album for a TV Series?
