kickass_ver5John Murphy has been confirmed as the new composer on board to compose original score music for Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming action comedy Kick-Ass. Murphy, whose previous credits include 28 Days Later, Sunshine and Snatch, is the third composer on the project – the two others are Ilan Eshkeri (who scored Vaughn’s previous film, Stardust) and Marius De Vries (best known for his musical direction on Moulin Rouge!), and according to MovieScore Magazine’s sources music by all three might very well end up in the final cut of the picture.

Kick-Ass is a comedy about a high-school student who decides to become a super-hero even though he has no super-powers. The film is based on the comic by Mark Millar and stars Nicolas Cage, Mark Strong, Aaron Johnson, Chloe Morets and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Lionsgate will distribute with the premiere date set to April 16 next year.
