harold-faltermeyer-20070813031650811Warner Bros. Pictures recently released the official trailer for the upcoming Kevin Smith comedy Cop Out (previously known as A Couple of Dicks), confirming that Harold Faltermeyer is doing the music for the film. According to previous reports on the internet, Smith had approached the composer of Beverly Hills Cop to score his comedy, which stars Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan as two cops, and according to the credits in the trailer, he succeeded. Faltermeyer is best known as one of the musicians who defined the sound of synth pop in film scoring during the 1980s, penning one of the best known movie themes from that era, “Axel F” from Beverly Hills Cop, as well as Top Gun, Fletch and Fatal Beauty. Cop Out, which is Faltermeyer’s first feature film in 16 years, is coming out on February 26.

It stars Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan, not Jet Li. Easy to get them mixed up!

According to Faltermeyer’s website, he scored the feature film, “Vom Suchen und Finden der Liebe” in 2005, which is 5 years ago, not 16.

Faltermeyer wrote original songs for “Vom Suchen und Finden der Liebe” but the score was composed by Dario Farina.

Sorry, got Jet Li and Jason Lee mixed up… corrected and thanks for the heads-up…

No probs, Mikael, but it’s Tracy Morgan and Bruce Willis playing the two lead cops. Jason Lee is in it, but he’s not one of the main characters.
