And the Oscar nominees are…
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed this year’s Oscar nominations. No big surprises in the Best Original Score category, where Michael Giacchino’s Golden Globe-nominated score for Up was joined by Hans Zimmer’s Sherlock Holmes, Marco Beltrami’s and Buck Sanders’ The Hurt Locker, Alexandre Desplat’s Fantastic Mr. Fox and, of course, James Horner’s Avatar. Randy Newman’s music for The Princess and the Frog was deemed ineligible in the score category, but he was compensated in the Best Song category with two nominations for ‘Almost There’ and ‘Down in New Orleans.’ The three other nominated songs are ‘Loin de Paname’ from Paris 36 (Reinhardt Wagner/Frank Thomas), ‘Take It All’ from Nine (Maury Yeston) and ‘The Weary Kind (Theme from Crazy Heart)’ from Crazy Heart (Ryan Bingham/T Bone Burnett). The winners will be announced during the Oscar gala on March 7.

Gotta be sherlock holmes
Up is guaranteed winner.
no question up will win and it should win because its the best of the year
I hope Up wins. If it wins, it could be the first animated movie to get a Oscar for his score, right?
